Carbon Cycle North Carolina LLC is seeking a hands-on Instrumentation and Controls Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate industrial instrumentation, control systems, and related electronic components at its anaerobic digestion and renewable natural gas facility in Warsaw, North Carolina. This role supports accurate process monitoring, reliable equipment performance, safe plant operations, and effective control of critical facility systems.

C2NC develops and operates industrial-scale anaerobic digestion facilities that transform organic byproducts into pipeline-grade renewable natural gas. These facilities not only reduce methane emissions but also offer a sustainable, circular alternative to traditional energy sourcing. Our flagship site in Warsaw, North Carolina, is one of the largest of its kind in the Southeast, and it is just the beginning.

The Warsaw facility receives agricultural and organic feedstocks, produces pipeline-quality renewable natural gas, manages digestate, and treats process wastewater through an on-site membrane bioreactor system.

Position Summary

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician plays a critical role in supporting the reliable operation of plant instrumentation, electronic systems, and process controls. The position installs, programs, maintains, troubleshoots, tests, and calibrates equipment used to monitor and control industrial processes. The role also evaluates equipment performance, maintains technical and service documentation, updates drawings, and helps ensure that all work complies with applicable safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Mount, wire, and program instrumentation and control equipment in accordance with specifications, technical diagrams, and wiring schematics.

• Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and approved modifications on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment to maintain safe, reliable operation.

• Calibrate instruments, control devices, and related systems on a routine schedule to verify accuracy, reliability, and compliance with operating requirements.

• Troubleshoot electronic and control-system malfunctions using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, schematics, and supporting documentation to identify root causes and corrective actions.

• Respond to instrumentation and control-system issues promptly to reduce equipment downtime and maintain process continuity.

• Conduct system tests and evaluate equipment performance under simulated and operating conditions.

• Record and analyze test data, maintain service records, update drawings, and document maintenance activity in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

• Ensure that work and equipment comply with applicable industry regulations, electrical requirements, and safety standards, including the National Electrical Code.

• Follow required safety procedures, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain safe work practices in the plant environment.

• Operate computer terminals, portable programming units, and electronic test equipment to monitor, program, test, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of electronic theory, industrial instrumentation, control systems, and programming.

• Ability to read and interpret installation specifications, diagrams, schematics, wiring drawings, and technical manuals.

• Hands-on ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and calibrate industrial instrumentation and control equipment.

• Skilled in using diagnostic tools and electronic test equipment to identify and resolve system malfunctions.

• Computer proficiency, including use of specialized software for programming, data analysis, maintenance tracking, and recordkeeping.

• Ability to work safely in an active industrial environment and perform duties that may involve climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Industrial instrumentation installation, wiring, programming, maintenance, and calibration.

• Electronic and control-system troubleshooting.

• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics, diagrams, technical specifications, and equipment manuals.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving complex technical issues.

• Accurate technical documentation, service-record maintenance, and CMMS use.

• Proficiency with computers, portable programming units, diagnostic tools, and electronic test equipment.

• Strong safety awareness and consistent use of required personal protective equipment.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hands-on plant environment.

Preferred Experience

• Background in instrumentation and controls within an industrial, manufacturing, wastewater-treatment, renewable natural gas, anaerobic-digestion, utility, or similar process environment.

• Proficiency programming industrial control equipment and using specialized control-system software.

• Hands-on knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment.

• Familiarity with CMMS documentation for maintenance activities, service records, testing, and completed work.

• Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and industrial safety requirements.

Work Environment and Schedule

This is a full-time, in-person position at the C2NC facility in Warsaw, North Carolina. The Instrumentation and Controls Technician must be comfortable working in an active industrial environment and performing duties that may involve climbing, lifting, working in confined spaces, and using required personal protective equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is $30 to $50 per hour. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, and retirement benefits, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.
